Basic Accent Exercises
You can use this sheet for all exercises presented in my ACCENT CHALLENGE video series on YouTube.
32nd GADDisms
These exercise are titled GADDisms because they are strongly influenced by what Steve Gadd is doing so well: Throwing in awesome snare/hat 32nd rhythms. Check it out, it will surely enrich your groove repertoire. Use a tempo of about 80 Bpm
Drum&Bass Busy Bassdrum Grooves
These exercises are great a workout for your right bass drum foot and all of the grooves can be used in a music context. Consider playing the first bar three times instead of just one, this will add a more realistic loop-feel to it.
3/4 Left Hand D&B Figure
This is an important exercise for Drum&Bass drummers. These are common patterns you should be able at slow and fast tempos. Aim for 170 Bpm at least once you got the hang of it.
Left Hand D&B Independence Page 1
Important independent exercises, not only for Drum&Bass drummers. Have fun!
Left Hand D&B Independence Page 2
Part 2 gives you even more inspiration to work on your left hand skillz! Practce part 1 first, then this page and finally make up your own exercises build on these ideas
D&B Three Stroke Hi-Hat Figure
This page will get your right hand going! (or your left if you happen to be a leftie :-)
Drum&Bass Groove Based on Paradiddles Awesome drumbeats, so much fun to play and actually quite easy if you're good at playing the paradiddle already. Great for fast tempos. Give it a try!
Paradiddle Grooves / Difficulty Level 1
Paradiddles are a great tool for any drummer no matter which style. You should spend a lot of time with the regular paradiddle and all the permutations, it's worth it!
Paradiddle Grooves / Difficulty Level 2
The inverted paradiddle is sometimes overlooked, make sure to practice it as well as the reglular paradiddle.
Paradiddle Grooves / Difficulty Level 3
This paradiddle is harder to play, mainly because of the ghost note after the snare accent. Practicing these grooves will improve your left hand dynamic control considerably.
Paradiddle Grooves / Difficulty Level 4
More paradiddle madness! Have fun!
Beat Slicing
Beat Slicing is a great tool to put new life into any drum beat. It's based on the way Dj's work with drum beats and it will greatly enhance your ability to groove!
